The Gyrotonic Expansion System is a totally new
exercise system developed by Julio Horvath. Using
his training as a ballet dancer, Horvath designed the equipment to stretch and strengthen the body’s muscles and connective
tissues. As in pilates, Gyrotonic movements are paired with breathing patterns, therefore intensifying
aerobic and cardio workout.
Because the System was built to allow total freedom of movement, Gyrotonics
meets the needs of many people with varying body types and levels of strength. Everyone from the super
athlete to a young child can reap the Gyrotonic benefits of strength, flexibility, improved coordination as well as a greater
range of motion. While athletes gain a greater degree of endurance, versatility and gracefulness, children
tremendously benefit from physical consciousness, dexterity and coordination. It is also used in the rehabilitation
of dancers and athletes at hospitals.
Due to the system’s proven results and versatility,
Julio Horvath and his Gyrotonic Expansion System were awarded a medal at the 7th International Invention Convention
held in Pittsburg, 1991.
